The he port is located at about 110 nautical miles south of Mumbai. The Concession Agreement was signed in June, 2008 with M/s JSW Jaigarh Port Ltd., a constituent company of Jindal Group. The Port will have seven berths with a draught of 14 metres at an investment of about 1000 crores. The port complex will have a 1200 MW coal-based thermal power plant and a port-based SEZ. This port is expected to handle about 18 MTPA, when fully operational. The first two berths having a total length of 550 metres are on the verge of commissioning and expected to start cargo operations from September/ October, 2009.
PILOTAGE
Pilotage is compulsory for inward and outward movement of ships and movement between berths. Pilotage services is provided round–the-clock in all season.
Vessel has to use only polypropylene ropes for mooring.  In case wires are to be used, they will be used as spring lines only, provided they have 40 meter long polypropylene tails.  During berthing, the vessel propeller must have 90% immersion and a trim not to exceed 1% of LOA. The fenders at the berth are 3.6 m above water level at low water, vessel has to maintain minimum 5 meter freeboard always and must ensure that its ship's side rests on the fender.
Pilot boards the vessel in position Lat 17 deg 19.9 min N, Long 073 deg 08.3 min E, which is 2 miles West of entrance channel buoys.
Entrance channel buoy is in position Lat 17 deg 19.2 min N, Long 073 deg 10.1 min E.
COMMUNICATION
The Port Signal Station is equipped with VHF facility using channel 16 for calling and channel 11
Facilities / Infrastructure

• Mechanized coal handling : 2 Nos. gantry Ship unloaders at Berth 1 of 2000 TPH each and 2 Nos. gantry ship unloaders at Berth 3A of 4500 TPH each Closed conveyor system 2 Nos. Stacker reclaimers of 4000 TPH stacking / 2000 TPH reclaiming each and 2 Nos. • 4 Nos. ship loaders of 2500 TPH capacity each
• PDI facility for RoRo and refeers

PORT REGULATION
Port has made it compulsory for all vsls entering Jaigarh to have a valid P & I Cert. of Entry. The insurance cover for wreck removal and pollution damages should be covered by a P & I Club. Master to have original of P & I Cert. on  board which to be made available to Pilot for perusal.  Same should be valid. Owners / Disp. Owners required to fax prior arvl of vsl the scanned copies of such certificates duly signed by the issuing authority.
